Loose pieces question

Post by paliontology »

Hi all :)

I'm getting married in February, and one of the little things my fiancée and I have been kicking around is a little Lego version of our venue (the Vancouver Aquarium) sort of centerpiecing our cake table with bride and groom minifigs standing at the outside.

Accomplishing this seems to be a bit easier said than done. I was curious if you all knew where the best place around here would be to purchase loose pieces? Most of what I'm concerned about are glass for the fish tanks and the fish themselves and such. We probably have enough bricks to make the building itself.

I know of and met the owner of Bob and Coby's out in Chilliwack, who seems to carry a lot judging by the setup I saw at his table at the Vancouver Sportsfest last weekend, but I was hoping there was a place a little closer to us (Burnaby) so I wouldn't have to make the trek out.

I'm also trying to avoid eBay since I'd like to purchase locally, but may give in if I can't find anything here.

Thanks for any help!
-Matt

EDIT: The last time I was at Oakridge Center, it didn't appear that the Pick a Brick wall had what I was looking for glass piece wise.

You might want to try Bricklink to purchase. Or use Bricklink to at least isolate the piece that you're looking for. Once we know the piece and quantity you're looking for it'll be a lot easier.

If you have sets that include that piece, you can navigate through Bricklink to find that piece.

Wow...I've never heard of Bricklink before. This site is amazing and it looks like somebody has a bit of everything I'm looking for. I'll probably continue my search there and pick up the bits and pieces I need.

Thank you so much

Beware Bricklink can be very addictive and can be costly with shipping and buying from multiple shops. Shop smart. Sometimes shipping from overseas can be better than local.

You can also do a Pick a Brick online through Shop at Home. And I think it's still Double VIP and Free shipping till Oct 31st for purchase over $99.

Pick A Brick wall at the LEGO store inside Oakridge Mall, Vancouver- has tons loose bricks you can pick from. Also you can call ahead to see if they would have trans windows.. I've a baggy full of them from the PAB wall.

Personally I hate waiting for LEGO to arrive in the mail ;)
