Hello fellow LEGO fans. I am considering ordering from Amazon.com and ship the product to Pt. Roberts, WA. I am planning on ordering the Fire Brigade . I go to Pt. Roberts every other week or so to fill up on some gas and noticed there are 3 shipping companies that operate in the little town. Have any of you tried the services? How was your experience? Which company is the best? Customs? Duty and taxes? Thanks in advance for your help! Here are the three companies:

I have used the letter carrier before. No complaints with them but CCRA was too eager to collect duty / tax . Not sure if this was typical or not

I too have used the Letter Carrier and picked up from TSB. The last few times, I went during the weekdays and it's taken me over an hour round trip to go through and back due to long lineups. Otherwise, it's a great way of picking up stuff from the US.

Do factor in that you will pay duty/taxes whatever, and if you don't, then bonus. Sometimes, I've paid, othertimes, I haven't.

I have used TSBshipping, no complaints. Border crossing can be slow –pick your times and they enjoy collecting duty. You may want to compare pricing based on envelopes and box sizes with each company. I hope this helps.

They used to charge by size of package, but now they charge by weight. I don't think a LEGO set would exceed 24 pounds, if not then it would be $3.50 per package.

I've used Hagens at Blaine.
They charge per package under a certain size.
If you do a lot of ordering you can also pay the yearly rate (something like $12.00 for the whole year).
Amazon is notorious for sending out each item in one order separately so the flat rate for the entire year pays itself off very quickly.

When you are at the border, do you tell them the price of the product or the total order price including tax and shipping?

I just came back from Pt. Roberts to pick up the Fire Brigade I ordered off of Target.com. P2P Parcel is very well organized and knew where my package was instantly. Good service, will definitely use them again. The border waits were not too bad early in the morning. The best news is I did not get charged customs/duty. So buying an exclusive set in the US saved me around $40 not including taxes. Going to start building tonight while watching the Canucks game.
