Hi guys thought I might share this with you all.
Last October I competed in a Lego build. it was the first one that they held for adults only. They have had contests for the kids for years. After much talk and want for an adult contest, they finally brought one. Its different from other contest i have been in and seen.
They provide all the Lego, and there is a lot of it from all different sets throughout the years.
You have 2 hours to build, the first hour without the public watching then the second hour the public can walk around and watch.
All the Lego is piled on a bunch of tables put together so you have to fight for pieces against everyone else.
You can bring up to 10 pieces from you own collection to help with what ever you want to build(figs count as one piece)
You are told a theme when you sign up to compete, which is a few weeks before the build.
Its then judged by the spectators dropping marbles into a little bucket beside your design. The winner is the one with the most marbles.
I thought this was a really neat way of doing a Lego competition keeping it fare for everyone. It also shows who can be the most creative. Cause it was such a huge Hit they will be doing another one this year. Last year the prizes were unreal.
I can only remember 1st place, but it was a day at Scandinavia Spa for 2 in whistler and a night stay at the chateau Fairmount and the base of Blackcomb mountain.
Squamish, the town I'm from used to hold Lego competitions when I was a kid on august long week, for the big logger sports weekend that is held here every year. I'm not sure if they still do. But if the club was looking to do some more builds or promoting. These 2 events could be a good way.
Like i said just sharing the Lego activities up north here, and seeing what you guys think of it.
Keith.

Re: Lego compition in Whistler
Thanks for the feedback Keith.
The Whistler orgnaizer did invite us to take part for last year's event. Unfortunately some lines of communication got crossed and we missed out. Hopefully we can take part this year. sounds like fun.
