Re: Vancouver LEGO store
I wonder if they will have any cool sculptures in the mall to advertise the opening. I saw some youtube footage of opening days for some stores.... and it was crazy what they had... and the mall was packed full of people. You would think they would have some events or something to coincide with the opening.
Yeah for Targets! Only cause they will have the exclusive Lord Of the Rings set with Lurtz lol.

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
I was browsing TimTosino's Flickr stream today and noticed he uploaded a model of a Taxi and some Mini-land scale figures. Is this by any chance, a part of the Brand Ribbon models that will be displayed around the stores in little cubby holes? If it is, hope you guys have fun building these amazing models!
Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Yes it is and some of them are more fun to build than others.

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Are there any big events planned for the opening of the store that we know of?
Re: Vancouver LEGO store
I have not been given much info about the open yet. I will post if I do.

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
All LEGO store grand opening celebrations have had a "Master Builder Event". In this event, kids, and AFOLs will help a LEGO "Master", (perhaps one of you guys or Robin Sather?) construct a large scale model of a Star Wars figure. In past events, these figures would of have been Yoda or R2-D2. When you are done and have contributed to the building of the SW figure, you will get a certificate and sometimes an exclusive Duplo brick: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.p ... &p=1102604 If you would like to see an example of a LEGO Store Grand Opening, check out these photos from Eurobricks on the Fairview, Ontario Store: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.p ... &p=1101050mattybrick wrote:Are there any big events planned for the opening of the store that we know of?

Yes the Taxi Scene is for the LBR Displays (I've changed the flickr photo titles now to reflect that). I spent the better part of an afternoon and evening doing it. The Taxi I think it the coolest thing because that motorbike will prolly fall over or break after they put it in. The General Public will prolly know about the Grand Opening day and times when we do, because the club isn't in direct contact with the people who are in charge of getting the store open this spring. LEGO's Retail Department and Community Relations are completely seperate.

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
That taxi scene is amazing! Very impressive work! I hope that they have lego special day event minfigures for our stores opening! That would be pretty cool. Hahaha I dont know that I am talented enough yet to help make a decent Yoda or R2 out of lego.. I can make a cool letter T lol not sure that helps much lol.
Looking forward to the opening!
We almost need to do a Lego Store Countdown thread!

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Hi guys!
Jenn Wagner here...new member of these forums and an AFOL who plans to attend the Grand Opening in May. I cannot wait!
I have attended about a half dozen of these store build events and find they are a lot of fun. Usually I have to travel pretty far to get to one, but as I have moved to Victoria about ten months ago, my trek won't be so long this year. Yay for that!
I just got back from BBTB yesterday and asked Kevin Hinkle if he was sharing information with you guys yet about the store event. He said he had and that there is a point of contact established for the club to liaison with TLG. I haven't read this thread all the way through...but who would that be, if I may ask? I know of a few people on the island who have expressed interest in helping with the store build event weekend and want to be sure we are properly looped in on any upcoming communication. Kevin said he would send stuff to us, but I thought it best to ask you all directly too.
I sometimes work with the Enfield Model Shop for various projects and was chatting with them last week, I hope to hear soon what the big build will be! I do know who is scheduled to come and be our Master Model Builder...but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say yet though...these schedules are normally not set in stone until the very last minute. I will ask about that later this week when I am on a call with them again and see what I'm allowed to share, if you are interested?
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and let you know I'll be coming barring unforeseen circumstances...I do hope to meet a bunch of you there!!
Thanks,
Jenn

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Hi Jenn, I am the contact person for the VLC. We would have met but you could not make it out the night I was at John's place. I have not been given any details on the Grand opening as of yet but I will keep you in the loop as soon as they actually send that info.
The info I have been given has been about the Lego Brand Models and the sets the store will be displaying.

Woohoo! Official grand opening date for the store is May 4-6! As seen in the May Store Calendar kindly provided by 'atmail35' on Toys N Bricks! http://www.toysnbricks.com/forums/downl ... &mode=view So stoked for this, whats better is that store openings now include a free LEGO store model with a $35 purchase.

I wish there was a like button for this post!
Yeah, was just texting with John Langrish and I think we are both game for helping that weekend with the store build -at least I definitely am! Keep us in the loop as I am not at all sure Kevin will send out to our LUG as per my request.
Thanks guys!

Day 2: LEGO Store Model
Day 3: Exclusive minifig set.
All free with $35+ purchase. I would like to get all 3 promo items but it seems like a lot of money to spend in 3 days. Cause' you can't really walk out with less than $35...

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
I am so looking forward to this Lego Store opening and it now appears that I will have to book off the Saturday so I can get that Lego Store exclusive set. Thank goodness I have some floater days left
. May 5th can't come soon enough.

Bricked since the 70's
Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Bewarned for those wanting the freebies, I heard of people lining up outside the store at 3 hours before opening, and there still being a lot of people infront of them. Im not sure what time the mall doors open on a Saturday but it looks as bad as an apple launch.
Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...........
Finally! Now I just need to book some time off.............good thing I'm getting laid off at the end of the month! xD
Now the problem is just that I don't have any place to crash in Vancouver except for my Ex's >.>
EDIT: Seeing you guys are much more acquainted with LEGO Stores than I am, and might know the size of the location, any idea what the P-a-B wall will be like?
Mike

Now I am wishing the closing date for my house purchase wasn't May2~!
What this town needs is more love bricks.
Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Somehow not quite the same, but the instructions are online, so you can build it yourself. With the transclear 1x1 round tile probably being the hardest of the bunch to get at this time.tukac wrote:Arg~! Yeah... I want that store model. >_<
