I have Friends

Post by RadStar »

Plenty new "Friends" sets at Metrotown TRU

Yesterday after work I picked up #3065 Heartlake Vet (2 girls, Pony, Puppy, Hedgehog) and #3935 Stephaine's Pet Patrol (1 girl, Bunny)

I arrived home and "gave" both sets to my girlfriend, she LOVED them and immediately opened boxes to start building. Both sets were built by end of night

Plenty pieces in new colors!
Animals are soooo cute!

The windows/doors/building stuff look great and should work very well when I mix them into other buildings. I am loving the aqua-blue awning pieces, already mentally planning a new building MOC for my layout in about 2 weeks' time when I can disassmeble the buildings hehe

The girls are only a tad bit taller than Lego minifigs, and they actually blend in alright.. admiteddly they'd blend in better if my lego minifigs had more flesh colors.. heh

Their hands dont rotate, as its only 1 piece and attached to the arm, same with the new lego skeleton arms.

The figs are very nicely sculpted and feel/look like larger versions of Polly Pocket figs. Theres even a bump for their noses.

The Bunny is just sooooo cute, same goes for the puppy dog and hedgehog.

I was surprised that the pony is the same size as LEGO horses and actually looks quite good next to them, I will be putting a female knight on it later on!

I am very pleased with my impluse purchase and am planning on picking up Olivia's Treehouse as it's got a cute kitten & Parakeet as well plenty other new colorful pieces! (So let me know if anyone sees it around town)

A couple interesting observations.. there is no roof covering the buildings, so its much more open & easier to "play". Also there is alot less smaller lego pieces, eg. None/Very little 1x1 plates, bricks, or tiles.. but yeah they've got pink cheese wedges :)

But theres plenty little tools/items, as well new bugs! ladybug/butterfly, and new flower molds etc.. very good stuff

Cheers!!

Thanks for the set review Radstar. Hopefully you can bring them to an upcoming meeting so we can see it in person.

I picked up emma's design studio for my daughter Emma,of course shes too young yet for all those small peices but she likes the girl fig.I think I'm going to pick up olivia's tree house its got some new flower (rose)pieces, might have to order some on the bulk order.
I think these sets will do well for lego .

If the topic title was "I have Megablocks" then this would be an intervention

I too think this line will do good. I have spoken to couple people that have purchased these sets for their daughters and the feed back has been very good. These sets will also appeal to the general AFOL & others for pure piece sets. I personally hope to pick up a couple.

Yup. I think my niece and I will want to get most of these. How many we actually get is another matter. Finally got around to reading the article I posted the other week and looking at the play characteristics and design put into the theme, it should do well amongst the feminine.

As much as I want LEGO to do well, I think I am secretly hoping they will do badly so I can fill a shopping cart at 60% off

Not really, but I am with andrew that the roses are awesome!

I think you say that with every theme.

Anyways, just noticed on brickset a listing (no picture) of a Friends Advent Calendar. That should be interesting. Hopefully, they price it reasonably.

Hrmmm, stopped by Wally Mart for my daughter, looked up and down the lego aisle lots of the new Starwars, Ninjango... but no Friends... turns out they're in a separate aisle full of pink and purple stuff -- an aisle my daughter wouldn't be caught dead in.
