Nice, hopefully we will be able to keep some sort of Pick a Brick list on inventory.

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
I live in central Richmond, and Oakridge is just about a 10-15 min drive depending on the traffic, so that is not too bad.
Re: Vancouver LEGO store
According to an article in today's Metro paper, the store will open on April 15th!

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
We should expect a 'soft opening' before the grand opening sometime before April. I am now deciding what I should buy to get the free exclusive minifigure set with a $35+ purchase. I wonder if they'll allow you to get 3 minifigure sets with a $110 purchase.
Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Hah not likely! You could probably buy three $35 sets separately for 3 free whatever's.
What exclusive figs are we talking about here anyway?

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
The exclusive figs have the LEGO store location printed on the back of the torso and the torso is USUALLY unique to the set. Here is an example of one of the Toronto locations:RadStar wrote:Hah not likely! You could probably buy three $35 sets separately for 3 free whatever's.

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Cool incentive to attend the Grand Opening although CITY style torsos wouldn't really work for my collection, good trade fodder I suppose
I see there is a print on the bottom pic "71 of 500" so I definitely would imagine only 1 per customer.

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
My wife was in the Benetton store and overheard the manager say that their store is closing because "another store put in a proposal for their location". That sounds like the upcoming location for the LEGO store... This store is DIRECTLY in front of the kids' play area (which could use an overhaul)!Gumby wrote:LEGO's entry in the Oakridge Centre directory says "West Galleria".
In the West Galleria, there is a "temporary" toy store (beside Stuart Weitzman I believe) named "Go! Toys & Games". That looks like a viable location for the LEGO store.

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
This is a decent sized store, looks quite big, well at least bigger than the Bellevue one.Gumby wrote:My wife was in the Benetton store and overheard the manager say that their store is closing because "another store put in a proposal for their location". Lego and an Apple store, wonder if Oakridge has a timbits too?
Even posted on the NSMB (North Shore Mountain Biking) forums. http://bb.nsmb.com/showthread.php?t=146646

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Was just at Oakridge and the Benetton store is now closed and windows papered up. Definately a good spot in front of the play area and concierge desk. The store outside of the Bay mall entrance and across from the Apple store is also vacant but it being a smaller space may not meet the needs of a Lego store.Gumby wrote:My wife was in the Benetton store and overheard the manager say that their store is closing because "another store put in a proposal for their location". On a side note, I wonder if the Zeller's will be converted into a Target store in the future? There's already a press release stating which Zeller's will become Target stores in Ontario but no announcement for anywhere else in the Canada.

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
The one across from Apple was formerly a Calendar store, at first I thought that was the location for the LEGO store, but it was way too small. When the papers are signed and everything is official, we should see some LEGO branding on the boarded up wall of the store saying stuff like: "Opening Soon" or "Coming Spring 2012". Can't wait! Her is the list of Zellers stores turning into a Target:beethead wrote:Was just at Oakridge and the Benetton store is now closed and windows papered up. So, anyone visit Oakridge lately? Has renovation started? Any LEGO branding on the walls?

There is now a landing page for this store: http://stores.lego.com/en-us/Vancouver/LandingPage.aspx
Re: Vancouver LEGO store
They have now painted the boards covering the store a familiar shade of yellow:

And they updated the mall directory, but someone screwed up the dates:

Re: Vancouver LEGO store
Hoping for a March opening. Is it possible that they might open during Spring Break? That way, there would be more kids being able attend the grand opening ceremony.
