Anybody by the 8275 Power Functions Bulldozer yet?
I'm curious... I don't see any talk of it on any forums that I visit.

Has anyone attempted or discovered the feasability of replacing the new 2x2 contact brick end with the old mindstorms one? If that would work, then couldn't one use the new motors with the mindstorms? If those new motors are more powerful (as refered to via that report someone did comparing the different lego motors), could they draw too much power from the yellow brick, or would it be still within acceptable levels?
This is just some thoughts i have had recently.

The power function motor and more importantly, the receiver, will respond to a variable power signal. This includes the ones presently for sale.
All that remains is for TLG to produce and sell a controller with a variable control (with a trigger, wheel, slider, or whatever). According to Steve Barile (at NWBrickcon), some sort of new controller will be coming, because eventually, ALL powered functions are moving towards the power functions "system", or at least towards some sort of compatibility. Yes, that includes trains AND mindstorms NXT. Apparently, a new converter cable will be available in January that will go between Mindstorms and the power functions stuff. (There will also be a better rechargable battery pack for trains). So, Graham, you don't need to hack your precious power functions gear!
Hopefully I'll see some of you guys next Friday in Abbotsford!

Yes, that was meant to be "buy" as in purchase. I understand your reason for posting this, but you do understand that it was simply a typo?who wrote:would that not be " buy" as in purchase than "by" like in by the way.
who:)
So the Power Functions receivers are all set to go for variable outputs? That is great news! I personally am not thrilled with the connector but I am glad to know that all we need are new controllers.
Yeah that is good news. I am interested in that new bulldozer, but am not too stoked on the new standard of connecting, plus the "full on or off". Even the train controllers aren't purely analog as they have about 7 steps. This leaves some realism to be desired. Hopefully that gets resolved in the future.
Guess that's one of the selling points for digitrak.
