Hot Dog Stand

I've made a hot dog stand, hopefully for the layout, but I'll have to see what you guys think about it - not being any judge of 50sness, I can't say if it would fit, but it might work.

Here are some horrible webcam shots (again, I will get renders done, but I wanted to post as soon as possible - when the renders are finished, I'll post them here). It's a bit saturated, but it will give you an idea of what it's like.

The stuff on the counter at the front is ketchup, mustard, and napkins.

Inside shot shows the open grille, and the cash register.

looks GREAT to me , only a detail that most people will not see , but the cash register should look older .

otherwise , its fifties for sure , WAY TO GO .

I was talking to Tim, and he mentioned that they probably wouldn't have had a cash reg. in a hot dog stand in the 50s (duh!), so I'm just going to have some money changing hands (albeit a lot of money - why oh why does Lego not make smaller denominations of bills?!).

One problem left, however - how to represent minifig-scale hot dogs. I noticed at Legoland California, they used plastic granules (used to make Lego) for fruit or candy or something in a streetside stand (which I thought was great - pure Lego at its finest), so there should be some inventive way to do this.

Any ideas??

1x1 round yellow with some sort of red bar through it. ma cut up a broken paddle or something. ermember, it's ok if the piece was damaged by someone that isn't you (like me).

You could use a piece of red wire in a 1x1 round as the bun.Maybe a bunch of yellow control arms in a upside down 1x1 square brick as french fries.Their was the popsicles out of the shell station sets a few years ago.

I don't think David is a good source of info on Hot Dogs.. LOL jk. I think you're thinking about Hamburgers. I can't think of anything that'll make a good Hot Dog without it getting mistake for a foot long sandwich, but the rounds do make great hamburgers.

not quite clear on what you mean...

ice cream cones look really good made from a yellow/tan 1-stud round plate stuck on a fig's hand, with white ones on top for each scoop. That's what I've been doing, and it works well.
