Kudos to all of you
Hi all,
Well, knowing you were clearing out the Surrey Museum exhibit on Saturday, I finally managed to get in on Friday to check it out, and all I have to say is ... WOW!
Very impressive work, guys!
I think that overall, it was a really great exhibit. I love the general decor, wall decorations, layout, etc. Really nice to see so many club member's names on the various tags, actively involved in mounting the exhibit.
My personal faves:
- Dave's "Soccer Ball Motivator" - Dave! Holy cow, man. Just an awesome piece of work. So whimsical. But ... 20 hours to build? If that's true then I'm going to start calling you Mozart, or perhaps Einstein ...
- Who's History Display - Just brilliant! Awesome layout, and lots of stuff in there that I didn't even know existed.
- Who's Living Room - I'd seen lots of pics before, but it's so cool in person. Awesome planter on the coffee table, and love the artwork.
- Dean's Jaka mask - very abstract, love it
- 50's layout highlights:
. Dean's cathedral (beautiful!)
. The "Golden Arches"
. The Toy Store
. The Bowling Alley
. The Water Tower (really simple, but very eye-catching - well done)
- The "Building Boom" wall sign
- Bryan's "Knight" maxi-fig (just awesome)
- Nice to see Andrew's Raven mask get some more exposure
- Nathan's stunning steampunk stuff
- Lots of other great smaller, but gorgeous pieces, like the great Mechs, and town vehicles
I was sorry to have never seen the Duplo tower. Did anyone post any pix anywhere? Glad you guys could make use of the leftover bricks from the Sphinx!
Good on ya, guys. How much of this will be going to Brickcon?
Cheers,
Robin

Yes, very well done everyone! What a great show.
Dave likely did 20 hours into it. Nathan build a fair bit of it for likeely 10 hours. I think they spent 6 putting it up. I know I spend about 10 hours fixing it and I think Dean H. spent twice that, plus many other people.
Not to say that Dave isn't amazing (and he does build really fast), but surely there were more than 20 hours put in.
Glad you liked the show Robin.

yeah 20 hours is about right . Now one thing though , only half of the tower was mine , the one with hte chain lift ,loop, buckets and the VLC plinko board where mine , At the time the signs had to be donei wasn't sure if nathan would have the others tower finished , the tower usinghte old 12 volt track and the Xpod switch back was his . the reason it took 20 hours , cause it was Ugly as sin !! if you took a close look at it only a few things actually that care taken into building them . But over all a great show yes

Seriously, who keeps track of how much time they put into a MOC?! And the number of pieces? Whatever.
Haha I knew you'd comment on my knight, Robin. Unfortunately he didn't have his plume in place cuz I took it home for repairs. Too bad his armour can't be removed minifig-style.
And yeah kudos to everybody for making this happen. Especially Who cuz half of our exhibit was probably yours!

After answering the same questions at events over and over and over again (How long to build?, How many pieces?, etc.), I know that once in a while I'll throw in a completely ridiculous figure, just to see the viewer's reaction! I figured that's what the "20 hours" was.Gumby wrote:Seriously, who keeps track of how much time they put into a MOC?! And the number of pieces? Whatever.

Do you have any other pics of it, avec plume? Can't remember your Brickshelf or MOCPages folder.Haha I knew you'd comment on my knight, Robin. Unfortunately he didn't have his plume in place cuz I took it home for repairs. Too bad his armour can't be removed minifig-style.

Nope, poor "D" was putting something on the table, the plumb fell off causing the knight to unballance and fall over, nocking the head off. The head, on it's way to the floor knocked off the middle SF train car...timtosino wrote:Well to be fair "D" wasn't touching or holding the Knight when it happened was he ?Gumby wrote: I can't take any pics of him right now cuz his helmet got into an argument with the museum floor...
I saw the whole thing.
