Greetings Brick fans!

Post by mattybrick »

Hey everyone!
I thought after taking over the posting here on a few threads.. that I should properly introduce myself!

Well my name is Matty.. full name of course being Matthew.. dont like be called Matt.. and well my friends tell me I am more of a Matty personality wise than a Matthew. I like to laugh, try to be care free, and do my best to be easy going! A big kid at heart.. lol.

I have collected lego's on and off since I was a youngster.. the first set I had was one of the knights castles.. this being the time when all the lego people were smiling yellow faced clones lol. Shortly after I got a few of the pirates sets.. not the boats.. but the Imperial Army guys.. I used them to make a French Revolution Diorama for school.
I also picked up on the Studios sets with Spinosaurus?? ( not sure what type of dino he was ) that has the plane with it. I believe it came out when JP3 was out in theatres as the dino has the tattoo on his leg... JPIII
Being a Star Wars fan.. I of course took notice again of Lego in my 20's when the first Star Wars sets came out. I picked up a few sets. Moved out and all my money went to furniture, and such for my own place so I sort fell of the lego bandwagon.

Now in my mid thirties ( time flies ) I am hooked and back on the Lego wagon again.. full express baby!

I unpacked my LEGO® actually the other day.. and I have a custom built display board for them. It is about 8 feet long.. by 2 feet wide. My brother owns a Millworking company so I kinda luck out. Sadly though.. I dont yet have any sets for it.. but my plan for it is to build a lego city on it.

I was browsing youtube one night.. and saw a bunch of fun lego cities.. and thought this is what I want to do!
Side note.. when I was a kid.. expo 86 was a small inspiration for me do want to do dioramas! I believe it was at the Japanese pavillion that they had a huge model train display. I remember that display for having a ton of stuff to see.. not just trains and houses.. but cool stuff.. like Godzilla attacking the harbour.. and King Kong in the City swatting at planes.

That is my plan for my Lego city.. to have crazy stuff going on where you least expect it... to keep it fun.. and legoish.

I have already ordered some instructions on building a few skyscrapers.. and I plan to purchase some of the modular buildings to from Lego. I saw the link also for lifelites.. which is freakin awesome.. I love lighted things.. makes them more interesting and definately adds some life to the LEGO®!

So I am just in the planning stages.. dusting off my LEGO®.. the Dino is on the table menacing a few Lego camera crew people while the Emperor from Star Wars chills with the some movie extras lol. I have ordered a few of the minifigures from series 1 and 2 I believe it is. They are great.. gonna be buying those for sure to help populate my city.

So that is me at the moment.. so far I am pretty hyped about the 2012 reveals.. LotR lego has me super excited, sparked a little by the Monster Fighters.. they remind me of Vincent Price movies..and that 80's movie.. Monster Squad.. I think it was called... it features pretty much all the same monsters.. all working for Dracula... and the Poor wolfman.. got kicked by the kids in a place that was sure to make him howl in pain.. poor guy! I am also interested in the Marvel/DC stuff as well.. more so that Batman stuff than the Avengers stuff.. but their sets look amazing.

Hoping to make it out to a meeting.. and looking forward to being a part of this site!

I may make a progress thread as I start on my city..and maybe do something about it on youtube.

Cheers everyone!

Matty

You should create a smart phone website barcode thingy to this thread so each time people ask about your story you can just point to the barcode . Welcome to the forum and the world of local adult fans of Lego. You will find some similar stories and interests from our members. Speaking of Expo, a few of us will be at Science World this Friday night for the after hours event. We will be hosting some games and Lego competitions. Feel free to stop by and introduce yourself.
