imitation is a form of flattery?

Post by Pascal »

Hello friends,

As you all know, LEGO has a line of collectable minifigs. The quality of the LEGO minifigs is somewhat lacking compared to the figs found in sets, however, the coolness of many of the figs is worth the ever increasing price tag.

Not too long ago, m3ga bl0cks saw that LEGO was making bucket loads of cash and decided to copy that business model. I received one of the m3ga bl0ck halo mifigs as a gift and was quite surprised at the high qualtiy of the fig.

Today, I was at a toy store and saw something that made me smirk. Playmobile has now followed LEGO's lead as well. They recently released Playmobile Series 1 Figures. However, as a departure form the LEGO business model, Playmobile has separated the male figs hrom the female figs. I'm not sure how I feel about the split of the sexes. I'm leaning more towards the 'don't like it' side.

Apperently the quality if the figs and accessories are just as good as the set figs. This is where LEGO could learn about quality control. The other thing Playmobile has done well with is putting many accessories in each fig pack.

Anyhow, that just about does it for me tonight. I'll see you next week when I discuss the intricate workings of marmalade.

Yuck.... marmalade. Or is that marmite, I don't like?

The mystery pack is an interesting one. However it looks like the Ninjago 2012 line is getting some minifigs with a bunch of accessories but with no mystery element to it. I'm curious how they will price it.

Though I have a bit of playmobil and I saw the figures at TRU and then the poster of them I got none of them. The figures playmobil has (at least for the boys) are readily available in sets and didn't inspire me to get any of them. I think the Playmobil Special Packs are a much better, only a dollar more, and you can see what you are getting!
