I know I'm going to get roasted for bringing this up but has anyone tried those Enlighten brand brown coloured Lego-fitting RC train tracks? I see them on eBay and was wondering what the quality is like? Lego RC train tracks are pretty expensive. A straight piece runs for ~$2.50 while curves go for ~$0.40. BL shows set 7896 with 8 straights & 8 curves from $25 US and up. For less than $40 US you can get 3 sets of clone 7896 and 1 set of clone 7895 with free shipping. Dare I cross over to the dark side...

I'm not interested in the clone trains, just the tracks.

I havent looked up rules for building mocs for shows..

Is there any rule in VLC that we *cannot* use megablocks or another blocks in our MOC's etc ? I do have the occasional megablocks mixed in from a couple lots I purchases online.. and I've usually just left them in the mix- cause the slight different shade in color is a nice variation to me

As for the train tracks- if they look good and is that much more affordable to you.. and theres no major drawback- such as not being allowed to use them at shows.. then why not?

p.s. I ordered Diagon Alley today! I will be treating it as an Medieval Village expansion set! Borgin and Burke's will be MOC'ed into something else. Gringotts won't have leaning pillars And fleshies swapped out for yellowies

OK, on a serious note, we don't use MB in our shows as we are not the Vancouver Plastic Block Club. Having said that, what you choose to put in your collection may get you teased but it is your call.

I used to trow my m...blocks in the garbage, but now I use them for mountain filler. they still don't grip well, and they are mostly useless, but no one can see them in there, and it's more environmentally reasonable than tossing them and buying more LEGO to use for filler.

I am not a purist, but any means. If LEGO is /missing/ the part in their inventory, then I am ok with making it. I would never buy meg... or any other knock off cause the quality is too low, but when Brick Ar,s comes along, offering pieces that LEGO doesn't make and they are good quality, I am all over it, sort of...

I think there is an element of building with what you have, and in most cases I am fine with that. The challenge is to build out of LEGO. But when it comes to the figs, there is only so much you can do at that scale. So cheating new pieces, or making my own weird bits with Fimo feels just fine.

Having said all that, I would not want to someone put down an army of Meg... Roman soldiers, if they made them. Then we would be the Mixed Block Club, and that is not the point.

And having said all that, Megablocks are still locally made in Canada, and LEGO seems to be moving their production to cheaper labour markets. It's a shitty practice that is destroying the North American economy and if Meg.... weren't so crappy I would have already switched on local-principal.
