Re: New to the forum?
Hey everyone,
Matt here, I live in Vancouver and I build Lego GBC modules. I run a Lego GBC blog, and YouTube channel as well. https://www.youtube.com/c/GreatBallPit
I've attended BrickCan 2017 and 2018, and have tickets bought to attend BrickCon 2018 in Seattle this October (with more GBC).
After meeting several of you at BrickCan I'm hoping to join VLC to network, learn, and share my Lego creations at more local events then just BrickCan once per year.
My favourite themes: Space, Microscale, and a few of the Licensed IP's.
Looking forward to meeting up soon!

Hey Matt,
Are all those GBC modules on your YouTube channel yours? Their fantastic!
The brick separator one was one of my favorites at BrickCan.
What part of Vancouver are you in?
Cheers,
- James

Re: New to the forum?
Hi James, I designed and built all of the modules on the channel, with the exceptions of "Morgan's Mine" and "D.R.O.P." which both use building instructions from other builders. (I did however re-skin them to be custom).JamesH wrote:Hey Matt,

I thought I'd introduce myself, and pass along a link to a short Breakfast Television segment from this morning about four of my builds:

Re: New to the forum?
Welcome Peter, and thanks for sharing.
Several of us also saw your buildings in the local papers a couple weeks ago.
If you'd like to meet other local AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) we get together about once a month to talk LEGO.
Send me a private message if you'd be interested in attending a meeting. (Our next one's actually tomorrow evening.)

Re: New to the forum?
Hi everyone
My name is Dax, I've just recently relocated to Vancouver from Johannesburg, South Africa. I was heavily involved in the South African LEGO community and I'm looking to join the Vancouver community and start getting involved locally.
I've been in the hobby for over 10 years. I like to build typically larger, display orientated type MOC's which are often train themed but I have no real preference and like to build whatever inspires me.
I have a 1/4 of a container of LEGO making its way across the globe which I'm waiting for and I'm currently frustratingly LEGO-less except for a few locally acquired sets. I have heart palpitations thinking about the probable box crush happening right now to some of my very favorite sets.
Anyhow, hope to start meeting some of you soon and being able to chat about LEGO again with someone other than my completely uninterested wife.

Re: New to the forum?
My parents and sister were all born in SA, then they moved here and had me. I can tell you one thing for sure, you'll be buying more LEGO now that it's cheaper than in SA. Plus being part of the VLC will also contribute to that and is utterly horrifying to wallets and uninterested spouses.DaxM wrote:Hi everyone

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Here are some of my models over the last few years. Please excuse the general picture quality. I never take proper pics so most of them are from displays, events or my phone camera.

I should be able to make the meeting next month so I'll get to meet you all there. Look forward to it!

Welcome to the forum Dax!
It should be working now, it was all waiting for moderator approval. I see there are some real issues at MOC-pages.

And I know Pierre said LEGO is cheaper to buy here, but I'm guessing space to store it is more costly here.
