Train Buffs: How many of you are there?

Post by dberladyn »

I just recently purchased over 120 feet of 4.5v Straight track. I am thinking that I am going to set up some trains here at home. I like 9v track only for the powered rails otherwise the switches take up too much room and it seems difficult (and expensive) to acquire Dark Gray track.

Anyways I just wanted to talk about LEGO Trains if anyone is interested.

I wonder if our trains forum should be public? no reason we can't talk trains here as well though.

I love the old grey track. don't have much of it but its so useful for so many things.

Thanks, but I'll already have about 14 when my Bricklink purchases arrive. I've also purchased some 12v rails to fool around with, so who knows I might even go 12v. I wish I knew what LEGO has the works for Power Functions Trains.

Will there be any new track types?

Will Power Functions components be small enough? Personally I really dislike that connector. It takes up too much room.

Dan how does your layout look? You get all the track you need?post a pic of it here on the forum.

About the power functions,I think the battery box will be too large,I do believe they will have a quick charge mechanism in them, just wish it was less cumbersome.

Take care ,Andrew

The battery box is my biggest concern with the new power functions. I think you are correct Andrew "too big". It will make it very difficult to build 6 wide trains. If you go 8 wide, how long will the bat. last?
