Apparently I need a Sigfig?

Post by Joel Short »

I heard that for the Surrey show we want people to bring 2 copies of their Sigfig to hide in the displays. So I guess I need to make a Sigfig? I've heard of these but never really been interested before. What's the deal?

Is the idea that it looks as similar to me as possible? Can I just claim a "stock" minifig? Or make a goofy mashup? And it sounds like I need at least 2 of them? (Or more?)

Does everyone have a Sigfig? Are there other uses for them beyond these show displays?

I've looked around a bit for ideal minifig pieces and I'm once again confronting my classic Lego dilemma:
1. I want to use the perfect (read: rare) pieces for maximum accuracy
2. I am cheap

I've just been using a Minecraft Steve head on various torsos because I like Minecraft. But now I'm starting to think about a new sig fig and face a similar dilemma.

Here’s the ones Neil and I use. We take them on holiday with us.

Ok, what I'm hearing is it can be whatever and I can always change it later. I'll probably keep it simple for now.

It’s your “signature”, so customize it as you see fit.
Personally I have a range of torsos and equipment that I can swap out depending on the occasion. It doesn’t have to be a VLC torso.

I have been thinking about mine for a while. I like the idea that it looks like me. But they don't have to.
I'm gonna BrickLink some heads and hair that look specifically "me" and then collect some different torso and leg options.

Like Joel I've also heard (been informed?) (told?) to make 2 sigfigs and bring them to Surrey Museum for inclusion in the display. I assume we can get minifig pieces that more or less look like us? Or is there a way to customize them, especially the faces?

Cheers,

The whole find my sig fig timing could be a fun expertise for our shows in general.
