Re: Lego Bar Event
Since drinking is involved, shall we one-up it with gambling?
Now that the page is being covered by news and social media sites everywhere, anyone want to place bets on how quickly the site will get shut down with a cease and desist order from LEGO's legal team?

That guy needs a better storage and sorting system. (At least the glass is see through so you can get an idea of where the parts are.)

I've seen that picture used all over the internet for different things too (I think MiLUG uses it as the image on their meeting events pages on Facebook). So in addition to illegally using the LEGO name, he's also stealing images without giving credit...

MILUG does use that for their meeting event notices on Facebook.

Re: Lego Bar Event
Yes, MILUG does use this for our meetup events a lot of the time. We ALWAYS provide the photo credits (including the artist's name and website link) in the event details when we do. That being said, I never explicitly emailed the creator to ask permission. But, I figured for a small non-profit gathering, it wouldn't be an issue.
It is a bit surprising to see this image used commercially without credit. But it is possible (if unlikely) that the organizer obtained permission from the creator prior to using it.
FYI, the artist is Michal Kulesza (http://trzyzmiany.com/lego-daily-project). UPDATE: I just realized this website is no longer working. However, this was the artist's personal website until recently.

And then they seem to have vanished.
