New Club Directors

Post by Robin »

Just wondering about the results of the recent elections of new club directors. I heard that Mark is the new Prez, but don't know about any of the other positions. Congrats in advance to everyone!

Also, can someone post the results (and hopefully pix) of the castle competition? I saw a snap of Nathan's "Castle-in-the-air" (very cool!), and would love to see more (of everyone's creations).

Thanks, guys.

Castle competition

Post by Dj_Max »

Castle Competition:

Dave:

Dave created a beautiful 16th century spanish manor inspired castle. It was built modular, with three seperate components. It has a working fireplace, a secret passage revealed by turning one of the kegs on the lower floor. A ghost haunts the third floor, which is empty. Stood approx 24 inches tall.

Dean L:

Dean created a beautiful rock spire, inspired by the Lord Of The Rings. A small and narrow path leads up to the manor atop the spre, which when the lights are turned off, emits a glowing light from inside. Stood about 32 inches high.

Nathan:

Nathan built a castle in the sky. He had a vision of a magician and his family protected after their world had been destroyed. The dungeon also encloses the magician's workshop. Stood about 32 inches high.

Thanh:

Thanh built a Forbidden City themed castle. Main pagoda being invaded by the Red Ninjas. This will be the centerpiece to a larger diorama that Thanh has planned. Stood about 24 inches tall.

Andrew:

Andrew stayed within the theme of playability with his rendition of a Japanese style keep. It includes two very large sets of doors, housing a yet to be built Mech. Stood about 18 inches high.

David created ahome for his Skeleton army. The Black Gate allows you to enter the Dark Side. A dirt pathway leads up to the gate. Beyond the gate, the castle is bnuilt using both bricks and bones. Stood about 18 inches tall.

Connor:

In Connor's first building contest, he created an awesome dragon keep. Formerly a beautiful castle, two large green dragons fly (by wind up motor) around the Blood Stone high atop the castle. Another green dragon is perched on the battlement, which is littered with bones and corpses. Stood about 12 inches high.

Marc:

Marc created a fully playable castle, including Brickquest compatible floors. Six levels of play, including dungeon, main hall, stairwell, king's court, armory and the battlements. Stood at 19 inches exactly.

The final results were tabulated, using the system of 1 for the first choice and 8 being for the last choice, the lowest score winning. And the bragging right winners were:

Third place: Dave, with 40 points.
Second place: Marc, with 36 points.
First place: Nathan, with 28 points.

By winning, Nathan had the honor of choosing our next contest... Mecha!

Wow! Awesome work all 'round.

My favourites are Nathan's and Dean L's. Really great stuff.
