Boxes, boxes, boxes

Post by Frank »

What's your opinion on opened Lego boxes? Do you keep
them all? Keep one of each? Recycle them immediately?
Use them to build shelters for homeless people?

I've got just about all of mine (might have got rid of a few
duplicates) and it's at the point where I need a bigger house
just for the stupid boxes. I'm hoping someone can convince
me to part with them.

Suppose at some future time I fall on my head and decide
to get rid of my Lego. Is the best way to resort it back to the
original sets and boxes? I suppose it's more profitable to
sell it off piece by piece on Brickbay, but say you don't want
to spend a year doing that. Is there any value in having the
original boxes?

I pitch all of them, only ones worth keeping are the large train boxes cause they stack nice and you can store stuff in them. Other then that its off to the recycling. Even old ones.

I'm never going to get rid of my lego , hell i'll save it for my kids or their kids if i have to. But i never get the money back that i put into it so why sell it ?

We started out keeping one copy of each box. Then we started collapsing them. Now we pitch them all except for ones we really charish. I keep my UFO boxes and alex keeps her frightnight boxes. All the rest recycled. Because there is just no room!

I have most of my boxes from older sets cuz I keep them for storage and/or nostalgia reasons. They remind me of the "good old days" because of the "flip tops" and "display panels".

Boxes from recent sets are useless to me because you have to "break" the cardboard in order to open them. After opening them, you can't re-seal them to store pieces, nor do the boxes come with trays inside! All of the boxes from recent sets that I've purchased multiples of have been flattened and dumped into random recycle bins. I don't need the garbage man to know about my hobby/obsession!
