Lord of the Rings + LEGO!!!!

Oh need a moment to just be a big fanboy geek.. I was gonna add if they do make a Witch King minifigure.. I guess he would be fair game to all the Lego people being able to kill him as they arent really men.

Refering back to his line when Eowyn prepares to strike him.. and he is all like.. ya.. umm not gonna happen, no man can kill me.. and she pulls her helmet off and says.. I am no man.. and stabs him in the face lol. Side note..Merry the Hobbit also injures him with his blade.. as he is not a human man.

That's right mattybrick...lotr fans would know what your talking about.
There is huge potential to have a good line-up of interesting lotr minifigs, maybe not as many as star wars. But some solid new characters as you mentioned. Saruman, Radagast, Elves-Elrond, Galadriel, Celeborn, Men - Famamir, Denethor. Dwarves from the hobbit. Plus bigger pieces - Balrog, fell beast, Sauron, Ents - Treebeard. lots of great stuff, I'm looking forward to it.

I should also add that the LotR sets will probably do will in sales to.. with people wanted to make armies out of the minis. I believe the Uruks with the ladder.. the smaller companion set to the Helms Deep set.. will be one that people buy multiples of to grow their Uruk army!

I know most of you have seen images already, this is the first time I've seen them. These are from Brickset. Fortunately, I don't think these are sets I'll be buying unless really discounted. Except maybe 9469 Gandalf Arrives, so that I've got one of the new horses.

That's better, two black horses (and the Darth Vader/Lord Sith looking things). Those horses would be useful for the Mythology display. But still.... Any photos for the Urkhai Army?

Yeah alot nice pieces in the Weathertop set too.

The best picture I could find is below. it looks a bit confusing with the figs on the box and the actual figs though..

The Urkhai Army set comes with 3 Urkhai Soldiers and 1 barechested berserker or whatever.

Also Eomer & a Rohirim Solider on Horse. The castle wall fits with Battle of Helm's Deep very well.

I am actually excited about all of the sets! I for one will be picking up a Helms Deep set and a couple Urukhai armies. As for my extra Eomer.. I will either sell/give him away or switch out his face and make another guy.

I am also looking forward to the Moria Mine set.. though it is a Target Exclusive.. not sure when my local Zellers will become a Target, but hopefully I can buy it online if it is not yet a Target.

When are these due out? I'm still not sold on them (my wallet thanks me) until deep discount.

Please let me know if you're getting the set with the black horses as I'd like to use it in the Hercules vignette Mares of Diomedes for the Surrey Museum display. I just need to borrow one or two (or four) and then I'll use regular horses for others and sticker those eyes red (the new ones already look like they have red eyes). Four horses all together. Thanks.

Not problem chump you can borrow the horses for the Surrey show if the sets are for sale before the show starts. I don't mind.

I think the face on that Golum is hand painted. The photo quality is so good that various imperfections are obvious. maybe it was also printed badly?... Figure looks great in either case and I love the new non-robotic arm piece!

So headed on down to the Lego store yesterday as the Lord of the Rings sets officially were released at the store! I was there early but noticed that a few of the Orc Forges were already gone. They did have a lot of stock in though!

I went with a Helm's Deep theme to start off with.. so I picked up the Orc Forge, Helm's Deep, and 1 box of the Uruk Army. Still building the Helms Deep.. 1300+ pieces lol.

I really like the Forge and if you guys are considering getting into the Lord of the Rings sets I highly suggest picking up this set for a few reasons... it comes with a light brick that lights up the fires, and this so far is the only set out that the Uruk Army has the white hand of Saruman printed on it... which is awesome!

Helms Deep is half way built.. so far looks awesome! The new horses are pretty cool and can be positioned in a few ways with the new articulation.

My only issue is that the Uruk Army set comes with two Rohans.. Eomer and a Rider guy. Since I will be buying a few of these overtime.. as I am sure others will.. we will be stuck with a few Eomers lol. I would have prefered that he came in a different set.. and that we got a Uruk Commander instead.. or at least another generic Rohan guy.

Looking forward to getting the other sets!

I like how unique all the dwarves look, looking forward to seeing the rest of the Hobbit sets. I'd like to know if the Gandalf the Grey in Hobbit set is the same as the one in the LofR set Gandalf Arrives.
