Heroica

Post by MisterOwl »

Just picked up the smallest of the Heroica sets! The little goblins look so cute. Cannot wait to play this one with my girls!

Anyone have any feedback on these games?

Havent bought any, but the released games look extremely tempting- more so than the other board game stuff they've done. I havent budgeted for these and Im afraid I'd end up buying a few if not all.

So I hope they really suck.

Played it with my girls last night. The game is very simple, but has the potential to be custom-modded to whatever complexity you want! The microfigures are so cute! The little goblins are hillarious. The little Heroes are also well done!

Castle Fortaan is awesome. I love the way they did the drawbridge, the door panels that fit into the 1x2x2 2/3 windows are amazing, would make great closed windows. And! that mini goblin helmet with horns is super cool. Love it!

I'm having some difficulty finding heroica. Which retailers did you buy your set from?

Thanks.

Toys R Us had all four sets last time I looked and Walmart had 3 of the 4.

Found the Castle one, thanks. Sales guy at the ToysRUs said its been selling quite well. I'm excited to put some D&D style story telling and rules around it.

Well.... have you heard of BrickQuest or VLC Wars? You might be interested to check out the following.

If you're heading down to BrickCon in Seattle this year, TFM, will be doing a seminar on this and hopefully hosting a few games of BrickQuest. And from time to time the club runs brick games to introduce people to the idea, most recently at Trumpeter's or the "Father/Son" VLC BrikWars.

You will definately want to modify the rules. It's very simplistic, but great for kids. My 6 year old loves it.

Definitely want to go to Brickcon this year. I get the feeling the folks in this community are generally tremendous. I looked into Brickwars as a way of turning my developing Lego city into a war zone, but as mentioned if I can actually try out Brickwars at Brickcon it would help.

Do the first real run of Heroica tomorrow with a crowd that has little RPG experience. For now I'm just going to throw in some lego modifiers that will give bad effects instead of treasure, and also double all the bad guys hit points.

Please do share with us the results of your modifiers. Perhaps open up a new thread in our gaming forum. Thanks!

I see the Costco has a few of these sets - are these fun? Good with kids is probably a given, but I don't really know what these games are about or what the premise is. Any personal experiences with it, and how's the replayability?
