Just wondering, did anyone get the VIP keychain from around here?

Here's the link from Brickset:

http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=5679

No criteria was clearly defined except this statement that it was given to "the most active and engaged VIP members based on a list of criteria including purchase frequency". People started comparing spending patterns and then complained to LEGO because they felt entitled to "receive" this gift. LEGO then stated while the above was true, the list was also randomized. It went out worldwide.

While some say a clear criteria would be appreciated, people also pointed out that if that were the criteria then it would mainly be resellers and AFOLs that would receive this and that most kids would not. It would also seem to favour those who have LBRs near them, if so. And penalize those who buy LEGO outside of LEGO or not through their VIP cards.

On the cynical side, I think that the takeaway that LEGO is getting from this is, don't do it, because AFOLs complain too much.

I wouldn't say I'm an active member, but I do visit the store often. I spent about $400 last year, but no keychain. Perhaps this is a UK and USA thing only?

I hate it when they exclude Canadians. :p

I have read that the key chains did make it to Canada. Don't know how many.

Got mine too. It's too nice to use as an actual key chain though!

Also, I like the 3x2 tile with the hole. I don't think i have seen that piece anywhere else.

I didn't get one... nor do I expect to get one!

The problem is that there is no clear criteria as to who gets one, and who doesn't.
