[WIP] Sand green house
Here is a work-in-progress I thought I'd post a few pictures of to get some feedback and suggestions. The outside is mostly done, although I realized after the pictures I forgot to put the rear bargeboards back on. I'm still not sure if I like them or not and was experimenting with them on/off.
The interior will come later, although my 3 year old has already started (which is why you might be able to see R2-D2 peaking through the windows ).
I'm not clear on the forum policy for embedding images so I've only embedded this one low resolution one showing the front and back (house split in 1/2)

Here are some poorly edited photos showing the actual house with the lego version beside:

Just the lego version:

Rear:

The house (the lego one, not the real one ) splits in the middle for 'dollhouse' style access, the roof and top floor also come off for kind of 'modular' access:

And just for fun a few collages via Picasa:

Wow. I really like your style. Even without pictures of the real house that you modeled it on, it's a great house. After seeing it, I'm even more impressed, you captured it quite well.

Fantastic!
I like the barge boards (facia boards) better.

Embedding is fine. The board shrinks anything too large and turns it clickable.

very nice MOC James! Cant wait to see it in person.
Re: [WIP] Sand green house
Wow! great job.
Re: [WIP] Sand green house
Nice house. When I saw the first picture it reminded me of newer houses in the west side of Vancouver but I see you're from Kits so that explains it all. Looks like upper Kitsilano, south of Broadway and west of Arbutus, based on the pictures of the real house.
Try doing a Vancouver special next.

I like it! Love the way you did the various shapes/sizes of windows.

Re: [WIP] Sand green house
Thanks for the nice comments! (Criticisms and suggestions are welcome too)
And a huge thanks to the VLC in general. About 20% of the parts used are from my collection (eg. My Green Grocer is now a blue grocer) the rest of them are from either bulk orders or the reward draft.
My goal was to make a reasonably accurate representation of the real house using standard lego techniques/style ie. try and keep it close to what a real set might be like. Other than the basement windows I think it's pretty close in that respect.
It definitely needs a few more details, like someone checking the mail for a new lego catalogue
