Coast Guard MOC
I am curious if there is any interest or space at any VLC display for a Coast Guard MOC. I have been working on a large cutter, RHI, and C-130 I would like to one day set in a scene with a rocky coast line. The ship I am building should be done in a couple of months or less. Below are links to photos of the progress.

Re: Coast Guard MOC
It may be something we could incorporate into the Train Expo layout in the Fall. If we can expand the water area even more this coming year, it could look fairly nice next to some other ships. I'll also be wanting a little more room to run my tugboat around.
I own a bit of Lego. A little obsessive by some peoples standards.
Re: Coast Guard MOC
Sounds like that could be fun! I will keep posting the progress. How do you build your water? I have 8 baseplates worth of 1x2 trans blue tiles.

Re: Coast Guard MOC
Typically it's just been blue baseplates, but with the discussions about the MILS standards, we could also look into water texturing. I've got a bit of blue track that I used for moving the boat around this last Fall at the Train show.

Re: Coast Guard MOC
This is my latest version of water, trying to add depth and colour with different shades of blue.
Re: Coast Guard MOC
Where is the train expo held at? Are there any albums/photos of previous years?
Re: Coast Guard MOC
The last number of years it has been held in the PNE Forum building. It has been happening yearly.
It looks like mostly video on the websites. I don't post my pictures.

Steve,
Have you thought about joining the club? The train expo show is one of a number of different shows that the club participates in each year.

Steve,
That ship is looking fab. Is that orange stripe brick built or decal?
As for joining the club, start by coming to a few meetings, meet the club members.
Next meeting is tbd based on the whole COVID thing, but keep in touch with the club, and we’ll let you know when the next meeting is.

Re: Coast Guard MOC
You could search on youtube for vancouver train expo and look under Skeena or Skeena Pacific's account ,I believe he has filmed the last bunch of train shows and shows alot of our layouts.
Take care ,Andrew

Re: Coast Guard MOC
More photos in the scene I am still working on...
Re: Coast Guard MOC
Wow. That looks awesome!
I have sometimes walked through my neighbourhood (Penticton and Pandora ) and wondered how many giant LEGO collections are in my area. I think the answer is that there are likely lots, and all over the place.
