What's your biggest LEGO score?

Post by timtosino »

New or Used.

So far this year, for me I'd say it would have to be the 9719 RIS with a 1.0 RCX for $25.

I would have to say...

I would have to say the 20 Diagon Alley's... for $5.00 bucks each.

Then the goodies at the 75% off sale.

Too many to count ...

Post by Robin »

I've had a great many good scores.

There's of course my legendary score, where I found a family in 1995 or so, that had been buying at least one (and many times multiples) of every set that Lego made, since 1977. He was selling them set by set at garage sales. He had already sold a great deal (including much of the 9V train stuff  ), by the time I found him, but I still did very well. I ended up buying the entire lot with a partner for $8000. There were many hundreds of sets, usually sorted and in zip locks - boxes and boxes of them. For a while, they completely filled 2 rooms. We auctioned off about 1/3 of the lot, including almost all the classic space, fabuland sets, some of the pirate, and some of the technic sets. We easily made back our money (selling only that 1/3!), and now have (finally :? ) split the rest, which I've decided to keep instead of auctioning. Definitely my best "score".

As far as smaller scores, I'm sure we all have to mention our Yodas!

I'd also mention a sweet little score a couple of years ago. I found an "Interstellar Starfighter" (http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6979 - UFO set with fibre optics) at a Sears, marked down several times (not sure why, old stock I guess) to only $13. Score :D !!

Yodas

Post by Robin »

This year? Then it's got to be the Yodas.

I had some smaller ones, but nothing beat that for sheer value.

Well, hate to rub it in...

... but I guess that would have to be the day I was scrunging around the Langley Value Village when I was approached by this guy asking me if I collected Lego... DUH!

He sold me his collection for $200.00, with a grand total piece count of over 7000.... :P

I guess that would have to be the best and only score I made this year...
Cheers!

Yeah it's gotta be the TRU Star Wars lego sale. Combine that with the "free Creator bucket with every $50 purchase" and that's gotta be the most "brick for the buck" I've ever gotten.

Well I'm glad someone noticed... :?

If you don't see the new icons then when you are replying to a message hit RELOAD. That should do it. :D

I recently got a 5590 Whirl N' Wheel Super Truck in excellent condition, complete with a box for US$60 on eBay!
