Looks like licensed themes aren't going away anytime soon.

Re: The Winning Strategy of LEGO - Wired Magazine
Hmmm.. What about Disney and Pixar Stuff like Cars?
Re: The Winning Strategy of LEGO - Wired Magazine
I'm not sure where Wired got their information from. But TLG being a private company, I don't think is going to break down those metrics. Even the yellow part of the graph to me seems a bit meaningless and am unsure of the relevancy. The one takeaway I see is that they pay a small percentage amount of license fees with respect to revenues taken in. Granted they have to make new (most likely) one use molds for licenses like Cars, but that would usually go the same for their own themes.

Re: The Winning Strategy of LEGO - Wired Magazine
I'm interested to see how Disney Princesses do, by that chart POC wasn't that big of a flop it at least equalled LOTR.
Re: The Winning Strategy of LEGO - Wired Magazine
The chart is kind of confusing as the top right blue/white area is related to revenue, but the yellow bricks have nothing to do with revenue and are purely the number of different sets produced under each license.timtosino wrote:by that chart POC wasn't that big of a flop it at least equalled LOTR.
Ie. no way to tell which license are a hit and which are a flop
Re: The Winning Strategy of LEGO - Wired Magazine
Correct. The data they chose to represent the themes is not meaningful. As for the blue and white graph, they probably pulled it from the annual report.
