Is anyone interested in getting this?

It looks pretty interesting, I hope it takes off.

It certainly looks like a well-thought out product!

We've got this set, it's actually pretty neat and resonable value (but obviously poor quality compared to Lego):

While looking for the above link, I see they have a bunch of other larger coasters too.

I wondered about modifying it for use with Lego but haven't had time to see what would be involved.

It is a pretty cool product. It is designed so that you can use lego chain to motorize the cars.

I had the chance to build with it recently. The biggest issues they are having is getting the right flexibility for the track.

Here is a link to a moc I made with the product;

I've always wanted a LEGO roller coaster. Price is a bit steep though.

The thing most of us have against MB is that they compete against LEGO, and produce really crappy parts in the process. Meanwhile, these third party parts are made to complement the LEGO system, and the producers put some thought into the quality too! :)

I kind of agree with Pascal,I do believe in the 3rd party brick makers,Big bens steamwheels were around along time and fit a "need" for train builders.AS well as brickworks that made the different farm animals that lego had not produced yet.Same with Alt bricks and their multi-coloured leaves ,I've bought some fall colours but then some of the other style of bricks or weeds seem unlego like or something that lego would not chose to do.
Thats the beauty of matt chiles roller-coaster even though its like 7 or 8 years old the old blue or grey rails they he built sideways with was ingenious, loop and all.Sometimes its what you can do with lego part ,use it in a completly different way,or mix fabuland with jack stone and get something incredible about it .
I think its alright for the third parties to compliment the Lego brand, but I think the line is crossed when they start trying to re-invent the brick.

my 2 cents ,Andrew
Lego trains are just the best!

I take it, that this is third party, but is Lego backing it if they unveiled it at brick world in Chicago?

I'm actually not against the other companies as they fill specific niches. I just think is funny that I get "slammed" sometimes, and yet this topic is supported without criticism.

Take Mega Bloks for instance. I'm not saying that we should be using them, but more that their stuff looks great.

Take a look at the fig details:

megabloks-ragerock-91003-2324.png
The thing to remember is that, for the most part, Mega is not selling a building toy. It is selling a playset, like play-mobile. And they are making a pile of cash doing it.

Thanks AC :)

I love the directness of your comment.

I would never buy the alternative brands. While real pretty, they are no good for building. The stories they can tell are limited to their respective themes. The quality of the plastics are just not good enough for us builders. So I agree with anyone that doesn't care for them.

Notwithstanding the above, they have some great licenses. Come on... the Smurfs? Awesome potential. Halo? Awesome. Hotwheels? Zoooom! So, I do see the attraction to these sets.

So now we get to roller coaster factory. To anyone who is a purist, these sets are a blasphemy. It doesn't meant that they are no good, though. I look forward to seeing them in action.
