The other interlocking building toy...
Just out of curiosity I was checking out the "other interlocking building toy." They have the Smurfs as a theme. Looks pretty cool. Their Halo stuff is nice too.

Re: The other interlocking building toy...
I thought you were there at that meeting where I brought "said" other interlocking building toy "Halo" minifig to show others the articulation. Oh the horror you should have seen. One member even refused to touch "said" minifig.
Then again when I brought the TMNT "OIBT" minifigs, at least platypus thought it was pretty neat. I bought the TMNT Combat Lair because it had almost all the characters except Casey (there was never an April or Splinter) when it was on discount from Winners. Mainly from seeing the Bluntmation videos which featured the TMNT characters.
Yesterday I was looking at the Oxford brand Hello Kitty line online. Apparently their quality is pretty good. The pictures on their website suck, but some of their ancient Asia sets look amazing.
Eurobricks has some reviews of OIBT.

And here are some Oxford catalog scans of their lineup from a few years back.

Re: The other interlocking building toy...
Not a fan of those brands but to each their own. The articulation in the MB figs is nice. I wonder about the durability of those points of articulation as we know the quality of their product can be poor.
Perhaps we could do a stress test on your ninja turtle Chump.

Re: The other interlocking building toy...
Ninja Turtle doesn't have the articulation of the Halo figure, so we won't be stress testing those. I believe that a new member has a Halo collection. Yes?

Re: The other interlocking building toy...
I wish LEGO had that license. That would be so cool. But, of course, it`s a tad violent for LEGO.

Halo or TMNT? Some of the brickmodder versions are pretty good replicas.

Re: The other interlocking building toy...
I was given a MB halo minifig as a gag gift. I thought I really was going to gag... turns out it's actually a pretty nice minifig.
Re: The other interlocking building toy...
MB has blind Minifig packs for Halo, Marvel and Hello Kitty. Time to put those bag feeling skills to further use. Although apparently there are number codes too.

At first when you look at some of the alternate images, it looks like it has possibilities, but it's really pretty limited.

Yes, it does, but before someone revokes my VLC membership, what good is it if your figs are always falling down on the terrain. (speculation) "Yes, my troops ALL decided to go prone at the same time."

Re: The other interlocking building toy...
I have to say MB does a good job at marketing their junk ops stuff to children with landscaping like that but for me I think they could make a mold for everything and take lots of the creativity out of the building block. I find at times even Lego goes a little to far with some parts. For example the front end of the red and white RC train they put out before Power Functions. Yuck!
Re: The other interlocking building toy...
Yea i don't like the large prefab stuff. Which I find Mega Bloks does a lot. takes out all the fun.
I guess it's still good for kids though... I mean some kids like playmobil. Silly kids.

Too funny. Chris and I were just talking about how the forum was quiet over the weekend.michael wrote:This thread killed the forum. Good work.

Yes, I noticed the same thing but couldn't find a way to express it, so I figured I'd leave some other brave soul to pump life back into the forums. bravo!

I was thinking it was the discussion of MB that killed it, too.AC wrote:Too funny. Chris and I were just talking about how the forum was quiet over the weekend.michael wrote:This thread killed the forum. Good work.
Oddly (or not so odd, really) I find a lot of MB sets at thrift stores while I am looking for Lego. Lego is far more scarce in comparison.
What this town needs is more love bricks.
Re: The other interlocking building toy...
A friend brought this back for me from Asia... note that I did not ask for it!
I don't know what to do with it?

Re: The other interlocking building toy...
Admittedly I have a few packs of Enlighten brand rail road tracks, the brown variety. At $10 per set including shipping I couldn't resist. They come with the same quantity as the Lego brand but at half the price. I should of ordered more switching tracks though.
Re: The other interlocking building toy...
I bet the gold in that pirate ship set is better quality than that gold AC brought to the meeting
