Collectible minifigs
I must have them. More details on brothersbrick.
Re: Collectible minifigs
After reading about these figs it sounds like they will be in sealed bags and you won't know what you get till you open it. That being said, is anyone up for starting a trading circle. I really hope they are going to be available in Canada.

Like I said before, anyone want to start a trading group. They will be in bags and you won't know what you get till you open it.
At $2 US a bag it could really add up trying to get them all.

Re: Collectible minifigs
I'd probably be in for that. If the new price that's being thrown about of $2 is right then it makes it a bit easier on the wallet. What are you proposing though? A trading post? That would be easy enough. Or do we buy a bucketload and then try to distribute it evenly, or draft style? What did you have in mind? Then there's the second month to contend with.

Re: Collectible minifigs
I was thinking we all buy a set $ amount worth and try to put together as many complete sets as we can. If we need to get more after that top up so everyone gets a set that is involved. We could then draft the extras.
Just an idea.

Re: Collectible minifigs
wernt the nba players boxes looking the same, but their were 4 digits on the corner of the box so you could actually tell what players you were getting.

Re: Collectible minifigs
The NBA players had a picture on the box so you knew the players you were getting I think. This is the trading card idea I think. TLG would have us buy a great number of bags (like hockey cards) to get a complete set. To try and reduce the costs, groups of AFOLs could buy and trade as you see going on at places like Mcdonald's when the hockey cards come out there. Could be fun.
We could just do it that way. We each spend what we are comfortable spending and trade until we get the ones we want or the complete set. That way the people that just want five or six of their favorite ones don't get stuck paying for figs they don't want.

Re: Collectible minifigs
Well depite the companies claim that they are not targeting collectors, or collectibility, they are taking a big step down that road (and killing their own case).
Remember that anything collectible is always made with common items and rare items. The Skateboard-dude will likely be 30% of the packages, and the Zombie on 1%. I, of course, will hope that that Spartan Warrior is coming as dirt, thought I doubt it will be that case. Sure but the guys making custom Roman/Greek gear out of business if it is.

Re: Collectible minifigs
I was just in Billund (and was stuck there for an extra week, thanks to a certain unpronouncable volcano ... ). 10 of us split a case of collectible figs (the first 16), and there was a fairly consistent mix amongst the case. I asked my LEGO handlers if there would be any "short-packing", and was told that no, there wouldn't be. So, hopefully, the selection is evenly distributed, and random.
Have to say, while I'm not a big fan of the whole "hockey card" gotta-buy-more marketing thing ... I really do love the figs. My favourites (from the 1st round) are the robot and the cheerleader!

Thanks for the info Robin. Good to know that there are not going to be the really hard to find figs.

Re: Collectible minifigs
I spoke to the local Lego merchandiser at TRU this week. She didn't seem to know or didn't want to tell me too much about them. She though we might see them by the end of June. And they might be distributed more broadly that the usual box sets ie they might show up as checkout impulse items in stores other than TRU, Zellers and Walmart.
That is, if we get them at all here in Western Canada.

I know that Matt at Toy Traders has ordered them. Him getting them, well we will have to see.

Looks like the assortment will be the same per box.
4 Cavemen
3 Cheerleaders
3 Circus Clowns
4 Cowboys
5 Deep Sea Divers
5 Demolition Dummies
4 Forestmen
4 Magicians
5 Ninja
3 Nurses
4 Robots
3 Skaters
4 Spacemen
3 Super Wrestler
3 Tribal Hunters
3 Zombies
So do we amongst three of us, purchase a complete box and then draft the remainders?

Re: Collectible minifigs
I'll go in on a 3 way split with you Chump. Prefferably purchased from the US at 1.99 each
Re: Collectible minifigs
I,m in.
Re: Collectible minifigs
Hmm... I thought I posted a response, but I must have goofed, as it's not here.
I guess the three of us are in for a box which would be a complete set + 4 remainders. As Shane mentioned, I'd rather get from the US than Canada based on pricing. My suggestion is that the next one heading down to Bellevue when it becomes available, asks for a complete box. That person, will get first choice for the draft of the remaining 12 and the other two will flip a coin for second and third. Or something like that.
Or if one was so inclined (and the barcodes are deciphered) one could pull the extras out of the complete box, leaving us a complete set and then getting extras of the ones we are seeking.
I, for one, wouldn't mind a few extra cheerleaders!

Re: Collectible minifigs
I'd be in for a set... Perhaps, if we get enough people we could buy 2 boxes? So that would give us 6 complete sets and a bunch of extras...
At around $2 per bag... x16 = $32 I'm getting goofy ideas over here ... Hell... I'd even consider getting 2 sets.......
